Why do our male celebs keep having baby mamas?

Nigerian male celebrities have baby mamas because of the addiction of fame and the environment they are in.

If memory serves me right this is the first time Wizkid is reacting to accusations that he has more than one baby mama. I guess he is feeling the heat. The baby mama trend has been in the spotlight within the last couple of years with top stars such as Davido, Wizkid and Ice Prince all fathering kids with women they are not married to.

With Davido’s baby mama drama blowing up from December 2015-January 2016 the whole trend has been the topic of societal discussion recently. Why have our male stars preferred to have children before the get married?

Firstly, successful male celebrities have so many women at their disposal. Which normal, warm blooded male celebrity won’t enjoy the perks of fame? Even the most conservative male celebrities become savages eventually after so much pressure from female admirers and fans. Monogamy and the celebrity lifestyle is like oil and water, they do not mix. Guys who are at their prime and physically will naturally be with women who admire them. However is that enough reason to be having kids indiscriminately?

Discipline, and self-control. These are the 2 things that most male celebrities who are on top of their game lack. When they are on top they feel indestructible and don’t give a damn about the consequences. They can have sex with a women they barely know without protection and don’t care about the outcome.

Their senses have been taken over by the constant need for excitement and pleasure. Many of the baby daddies don’t realize the gravity of their decisions until they get the "I’m pregnant text.” Celebrities live an unruly life driven by pleasure and vanity. Having kids before getting married is one by-product of an undisciplined life.

Granted when male celebrities are on top they make bad choices, but surely there must have people around them to ensure that makes sure they don’t make these bad decisions.

Yes Nigerian celebrities have a posse or team of people with them all the time. Unfortunately most of these guys are yes men who are more concerned with the trappings of fame and wealth than looking out for their clients.

Davido and Wizkid’s baby mama cases are strong examples of how you can have all the people in the world and still make rash decisions in the heat of the moment. Most people who work with these male celebs are scared of being fired and not enjoying the lifestyle. They would rather keep quiet so as not to upset the celebrity who pays their salary.

This is the situation most male celebs find themselves, a place driven by lust and vanity with no one to help advise you or put you on the right path.

Now having a kid with a woman before getting married is not a bad or evil thing. If the woman who has your kid is your longtime girlfriend or someone who you want to spend the rest your life then it is all good.  However having a baby with a one-night stand will most likely lead to drama down the line.

The baby drama trend contrary to prevailing thoughts is not a contemporary occurrence. Singers and actors of the past also had baby mamas well sort of. Most of our stars from the yesteryears were polygamous and married the women who had kids for them.

In our time polygamy is frowned upon and people are beginning to see that having a child before marriage doesn’t automatically mean you should get married to the person. In the past it was slipped under the carpet of polygamy, now guys don’t just care.

However not all male celebs are fond of the idea of baby mamas. Singer Praiz vehemently rejected the baby mama trend recently. Speaking to Nigerian Tribune he said “No! God forbid that. I beg. I reject it in Jesus name. I mean, I will like to settle down and I really look forward to settling down."

The baby mama trend will continue, there is nothing going to stop it. In the future things will get complicated. More court cases and scandals will shape the future of the baby mama craze.
