Pulse Opinion Dammy Krane, Wizkid drop hot records instead of bottles

Dammy Krane and Wizkid need to take their beef to the studio and not in night clubs.

This year is two weeks and a day old, and it has seen more beefs, rants, baby mama dramas, tweet blunders, and fights than the entirety of last year. What a time to be alive.

As we crossed over into a New Year, the phony sense of decorum a lot Nigerian celebrities and entertainers had evaporated when Olamide dropped his red cup at the Headies.

On the first day of the year, Nigeria's hottest rapper Olamide and biggest music producer Don Jazzy clashed in front of millions of people on live TV. Symbolically this potentially meant 2016 would no longer be PR friendly.

Dammy Krane seen by many as a gifted singer who hasn't harnessed his talent fully was in the early hours of today allegedly assaulted by pop superstar Wizkid at Club Quilox- the hot night club for Nigerian celebrities right now.

The altercation between both acts originates from Dammy Krane's tweets a few days ago when he accused Wizkid of jacking his musical concepts. This is not the first time Dammy Krane has cried about an artiste jacking his idea. Remember when he said he came up with the hit dance step 'Skelewu'? Somehow people love taking advantage of the energetic pop singer.

Even though he apologized for attacking Wizkid on Twitter yesterday night it seems Wizkid was still pissed at his close associate.

Social media has been on flames since word of Dammy Krane and Wizkid's altercation got out, and even though this new episode of 'pop star wars' is great for content it is more troubling than the usual Twitter disses.

There will always be conflict among stars, and I have no problem with how they deal with their issues in public. However when things get violent we have to chill. What if things got out of hand today and Wizkid or Dammy Krane got stabbed? It will not only be sad, but it will signify a dark shift in our pop music culture.

Dammy Krane alleged Wizkid jacked some of his musical ideas. Instead of cutting someone's jaw or bashing someone's head like Puff Daddy did many years ago, Wizkid should have replied on wax. He should have gone to the studio and addressed the situation on a record. That would have done the culture some good. Fighting in clubs helps no one, and the culture.

The only beef I subscribe to is the beef that is strictly musicial. It helps bring out competition which leads to creativity. In this scenario we all win, the consumers, the artistes and the culture. Competition brings out the best in artistes. Imagine if Wizkid had replied by releasing a hot freestyle? Dammy Krane would have likely replied with a good song that would help push his slow career. That's a win-win scenario on both sides. The fans win also too, and our culture will be enriched.

Beef that has violence attached to it is wack and should not be encouraged. Wizkid did wrong by turning an accusation into nightclub fight scene. Being a gangsta only works in the movies, it won't help his career. Whatever issue these two men have they should keep it in songs and not let it spill out.

I think Dammy Krane needs something strong to kick start his career. If his allegations are true then he should craft a pop smash that will elevate his career. Twitter rants won't help him be a better artiste. Competition will. Also, it's time for Dammy to smarten up. Recording music carelessly and not keeping the raw files is a rookie mistake.

The beef we need in the industry right now shouldn't be about violence or ego but about who is the doper artiste or rapper.
