5 ways to become a social media celebrity

The mastery of social media is not rocket science. At the end of the day all you need are these five pointers.

Social media king

Social media celebrities is the approved term used to describe people who are very popular on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other social media apps out there. They are bigger than life or in this case they are bigger than the social media app they are on. They have thousands of followers (some have millions) and have their own fan base.

We all have smart phones but why are you still struggling on social media while some people are gaining thousands of followers daily.

Below are five steps of how you can become a social media celebrity;

1) Unique content

The trick about social media is post something that people don't normally see everyday. The content must tie to your personality but must be unique as well. Unique content will drive people to your account and check the latest thing you have posted or tweeted. So the content has to be you, unique and dope enough to attract people.

Popular Nigerian model Khloe who has 68,000 followers on Instagram says she doesn't only post the good things that happen to her. "I post every moment, not just happy and edited pictures" she told Pulse.  For her Instagram is her diary. This separates her from the tons of models who only put up their picture perfect photos.

2) Consistency

Okay so you have nice things you post and have cool tweets. That's good. The next thing is to be consistent. There are millions of people on Instagram right this minute. Yeah, you have a lovely photo of you at Olumo rock but when you post that what next? You must be consistent. You must update your social media accounts every single day to create a brand for yourself. With time people will know you on any social media app you are consistent on. Popular social media celebrity Bizzle has been active online since 2007. Today he has over 100,000 followers on Instagram and 37,000 followers on Twitter.

3) EmotionalConnection

People respond to messages that they can emotionally connect with. If whatever you are posting on social media does not strike a chord with people then chances are that you are doing something wrong. Social media celebrities know how to post videos, images that can move people emotionally. If you want to be popular on social media, this is the way to go.

4) Be engaging

You must allow people to see the wizard behind the curtain. Engage your followers regularly and talk to them. Reply their comments and do giveaways periodically.  Social media celebrities regularly do Instagram competitions which are extremely popular. 25-year-old Julieanna Goddard popularly known as Jes Yulz is a huge social media celebrity in America with approximately 100,000 people watching her SnapChat videos. She is also one of the biggest part promoters in the Hip-Hop scene. Julz regularly connects with her fans on SnapChat. "In the beginning I answered every (worthy) message that was sent to me. I would reply with selfies, videos, drawings, etc. After my views hit 15K it became a bit difficult to keep up with all of them" she told lifestyle site highsnobiety in 2015.

5) Network
