Melissa Rivers, daughter of the late Joan Rivers says she was highly disappointed when her mother was left out in the 'In Memoriam' tribute on Sunday (February 22) during the Oscars 2015 ceremony.

Melissa Rivers admitted "it would have been nice" for the Academy to have included her mother in a post on her Facebook account on Monday, February 23.

However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has apologized for the mishap acknowledging the complaints from fans about Rivers' absence from the annual remembering of Hollywood luminaries who passed away in 2014.
The organization wrote in a statement on February 24:

'Joan Rivers is among the many worthy artists and filmmakers we were unfortunately unable to feature in the In Memoriam segment of this year's Oscar show. She is, however, included in our In Memoriam gallery on Oscar.com.'
Although the late Fashion Police host was not popular for her films, fans thought she made a huge impact in Entertainment as a whole.
