Congolese singer's Zambia concert cancelled over assault charges

Koffi Olomide's assault of one of his female dancers has now cost him his performance at the 2016 90th Show at the Zambia’s Agricultural And Commercial Society.

Koffi Olomide

The Congolese singer was arrested on Saturday, July 23, 2016 after a video footage of the assault turned up social media.

Olomide's performance scheduled during the 2016 90th Show at the Zambia’s Agricultural And Commercial Society, has now been cancelled following his incorrigible actions.

The President of the management Committee, Ben Shoko, disclosed on Sunday, July 24, 2016 that the cancellation is a direct result of Olomide's actions at the airport.

The musician was also deported to Kinshasa, DRC by Kenya Airways after spending Friday night at JKIA’s police cell.

Olomide has now apologised for his behaviour in a post via his official Facebook page yesterday, asking for forgiveness, also apologising to the citizens of Congo who felt "dishonoured by this behaviour."

In an interview with Congolese national broadcaster RTNC, attached to the post Olomide said:

"I profoundly regret what happened... it was a moment of madness."
