A huge fan of body art, Dame Dench revealed she finally decided to make a permanent mark on her body on her birthday back in December last year.
Mirror Online reports that the actress' new tattoo was a gift from her daughter Tara “Finty” Williams, and it's located over her right wrist and bears the phrase “carpe diem” in bold font.
“That’s my motto: Seize the day,” she told Mirror Online, adding, “Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday — she’s wonderful with surprises.”
Although she seems pleased with the new addition, she said at the time she got the tattoo, her co-stars in "A Winter’s Tale" would tease her that it actually said: “Fish of the day.”
Last year, Dench revealed that she was thinking about getting a tattoo, but got scared. “I am tempted to have a tattoo to mark my birthday. Finty’s very keen on me having one,” reports the Mirror Online. And she even had a design in mind — an Indian symbol which she said supposedly represents life and love and everything.
“One of the cameramen who worked on The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel told me what it meant, but I’m a bit nervous in case I’m being set up… It might be unbelievably rude!”
But she finally took the bold step and got herself a tattoo. Life begins at 81 for Judi Dench!
