Five police officers were killed and many others injured after two snipers opened fire during a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas on Thursday, July 7, 2016.

In a statement released by the Dallas Police Chief David Brown, "snipers shot at 11 officers from elevated positions near Dealey Plaza during a protest over shootings by police earlier this week of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota".

In addition to the five deceased officers, at least three of the injured are in critical condition.

Celebrities however jumped on Twitter to react to the tragedy immediately news of the sniper shootings broke.

American singer John Legend took to Twitter yesterday, July 7, 2016 writing, "These Dallas shootings are horrific. Killing these officers is morally reprehensible and completely counterproductive to keeping us safe."
