Cancer battling American singer spends her last Christmas with family

Cancer battling American singer Joey Feek got her possibly final Christmas celebration as she battles Stage IV cervical cancer. She was joined by large family members at her home to support her on what had to be an emotional day.

Joey who sings alongside her husband Rory Feek was all smiles to make the day happy for herself, the family and friends, and her 1-year-old daughter Indiana. The husband Rory posted a photo of the celebration to the couple’s Facebook page on December 25.

The picture is a bittersweet sight; it had Joey’s hospital bed in the middle of the room, meaning she had to take some time to rest and take medicine during the long day; Joey is currently in hospice care, and was able to come home for the holiday.

Joey+Rory released their debut album The Life of a Song in late October, 2008. The wife was the lead vocalist and husband guitarist cum background vocalist. Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer not long after the birth of the couple’s daughter, Indiana, who was born with Down syndrome.

In 2015, Joey announced that the cancer had returned and spread to her colon. In October of that year, Rory revealed in a blog post that Joey's cancer was terminal and they were stopping all treatment. On November 9, 2015, Rory announced via his blog THISLIFEILIVE that Joey has entered hospice care. As of November 20, 2015, she was receiving in-house, end-of-life hospice palliative care at her home in Alexandria, Indiana.

But this is joyful. Joey is as far away from her medical supplies as she can possibly be in the photo, beaming brightly. It’s clear that this day, and these people, mean a lot to her. It’s a good thing she had a lovely Christmas.
