The voice behind Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird has passed away at the age of 63.

Joe Alaskey voiced many Warner Bros characters and was also behind 'Sylvester the Cat', died from cancer on February 3, 2016.

The actor, who was born in New York on April 17, 1952, started work as a stand-up impressionist and also featured on a Boston morning radio show, 'Effective Radio with Bill', working with June Foray.

He was hired by Warner Bros in 1989 to take over from famed voice artist Mel Blanc, who died that same year.

Alaskey previously revealed that he would sing every day so that he could keep his larynx supple, was also behind other 'Looney Tunes' characters including Elmer Fudd and Melvin the Martian.

Alaskey won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2004 for cartoon Duck Dodgers as he provided the voice of the eponymous hero, whom was described as "an egotistical, obnoxious duck with his own show".

He also worked on movies such as 'The Little Mermaid', 'Casper' and was the voice behind Richard Nixon in the critically-acclaimed movie, 'Forrest Gump'.
