Wrestling Legend, Hulk Hogan wants forgiveness for the racist remarks he made.

He apologised following his shocking exit from WWE, after several outlets reported the existence of audio of the wrestler making racist remarks, on Friday, July 24.

'Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation," Hogan tells  "It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs. It is not who I am. I continue to work every day to improve as a person, and this matter is an important learning experience for me in that regard. As a result I am resigning from my contractual relationship with the WWE.'

Hogan's lawyer David Houston also said that they are currently investigating the leaked audio, and that the WWE alum stepped down from his position on his own.

'Hulk has apologized to all of his fans,' Houston says. 'And we can only ask for forgiveness and understanding at this point.'

Alleged audio and video of Hogan supposedly using racial slurs in a 2012 sex tape have apparently been obtained by RadarOnline and the National Enquirer.

Houston adds that an investigation has been opened regarding the leaked audio, which is part of an ongoing trial centered on his sex tape with Hogan's best friend's ex wife, Heather Clem.
