Business tycoon takes Univision to court for $500M

Trump is suing the network for breach of contract and defamation of character.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump has filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univison for kicking out the Miss USA pageant from the network.

We earlier reported that when the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) dumped the billionaire on June 29 over racist comment on Mexican immigrants on June 25, Trump called the network 'weak' and threatened a lawsuit on Univision for breach of contract. Well, he was serious about it!

The US presidential hopeful believes Univision and NBC are trying to suppress his right of free speech. In the lawsuit, he says the reason Univision went after him is because the network is owned by Haim Saban, a key Hillary Clinton supporter and fundraiser.

Trump has also promised to go after NBC in court for dumping the beauty pageant. So far, no lawsuit has been filed on that front.

Trump is also suing for defamation, in part because he says on June 25th, Univision President of Programming Alberto Ciurana posted a photo on his Instagram account, comparing Trump to Dylann Roof, the 21-year-old responsible for the South Carolina church massacre.
