Ace rapper Common showed up on Grammy Awards red carpet in New York (Febreaury 8) with his daughter Omoye Assata Lynn as his date. She looked so stunning in her little white dress and natural make up as she clinged on to her dad's arms.

So we went digging and here are the 4 things you will want to know about Common's little girl:

  1. Omoye Assata Lynn was named after Assata Shakur, an African-American civil right activist and a former member of the Black Panther Party (BPP) group in America who was jailed in Cuba for many years.

  2. Her father, Common, titled one of his hit songs 'A Song for Assata' which chronicles the arrest, trial, incarceration and Cuban political asylum of Assata Shakur.

  3. Omoye made her father put his 3rd music album title 'One Day It'll Make Sense' on hold for almost a year just to get prepared to welcome her into the world in 1997.

  4. Common's massive hit "Retrospect For Life" featuring Lauryn Hill, was a dedication to his first child Omoye Assata Lynn. The song became the second single to be released from the 1997 album, and was accompanied by a video directed by Lauryn Hill.
