Today is the birthday of Yoruba actress Laide Bakare.

Laide Bakare who hails from Ibadan, Oyo state entered the movie industry in 1999. She studied Theatre Arts (diploma) at the University of Ibadan, and Degree in History and Strategic Studies at the University of Lagos.

Laide Bakare’s father used to own a hotel in Ibadan that popular actors used to lodge at. One day at the hotel when her father was celebrating his birthday, one of the filmmakers asked her if she would like to be an actress.

Her journey into stardom started from there. Today, Laide Bakare is one of the biggest Yoruba actresses in the country.

Laide Bakare has just launched a record label called Slimline Records. She has signed a group of talented acts known as B2L to Slimline Records, and there are plans to have them working with some of the biggest names in the industry, in the coming weeks and months.
