DJ Cuppy: In a very short space of time, Florence Otedola aka DJ Cuppy has established herself as the DJ (not just a female DJ) to beat. From DJing at the MTV Africa Awards to her mix tape launch event which had just about everybody in entertainment in attendance , DJ Cuppy is poised to take over in 2015.
Stephanie Coker: The MTV Base VJ's rise in the Nigerian media space has been nothing short of meteoric. Since her move back to Nigeria in 2011, Stephanie has worked with Cool FM, Ebony Life TV and MTV Base after winning the MTV Find My Freedom UK presenter competition. Charming and stylish, there's been no slowing down for the Tinsel actress and we see her having a big 2015.
Fade Ogunro: Beat FM's Fade Ogunro was a busy woman in 2014. Between her weekend show on the Beat FM, her appearance on Glam Report TV and red carpet appearances, she managed to end the year on a high, having landed the gig to host the Lagos Countdown event. We look forward to seeing what she gets up to in 2015 especially with her production company, Film Factory which she co-owns with her brother, Sesan.
Lisa Folawiyo: Jewel by Lisa's Lisa Folawiyo is no stranger in the Nigerian fashion scene with her designs having been spotted on the backs of international acts like Solange Knowles. With her growing profile in the international community and a few huge projects in the pipeline, we see her taking Nigerian fashion places in 2015.
Orire Omatsola: Orire is the brain behind fashion label, Re Bahia. Boasting such style mavens like Rita Dominic and Eku Edewor as customers, its no surprise that the Spring/Summer collection was called Coup D'etat, as Re Bahia is indeed set to take over the fashion industry with its graphic and artistic degins.
Bubu Ogisi: In the last few years, stylist/designer Bubu Ogisi of IamIsigo has steadily earned a place as one of the most influential stylists on the scene. Asides, designing and styling, Bubu also offers image consulting services and with her label gaining increasing attention, we expect to see even bigger things from the mother of one in 2015.
Oreka Godis: Although Oreka got introduced to us as a radio gal during her Beat FM days, the versatile media personality has since gone on to show us a different side to her with her appearance on the small screen in series like 'Dowry', 'Gidi Up' and more recently, 'Dear Avalon'. She also serves as host of the late night show, 'Love Lounge' on Ebony Life TV. With a growing silver screen profile, expect to see the lovely Miss Godis earn a few nods for her acting in 2015.
Ivie Okujaiye: Amstel Malta Box Office winner, Ivie Okujaiye had an interesting 2014 with her AMVCA nomination and release of her movie, 'Make A Move' and with the momentum gained, we expect the new generation Nollywood sweetheart to soar to new heights in 2015.
Simi: With her sweet voice, Simi seemed like the perfect counterpart for X3M music label mate, Praiz and this proved to be the case with her lead single, 'Tiff' which got massive airplay last year. We expect to see more of the petite singer in the days ahead.
Dija: Mavin artiste, Dija first burst into our consciousness with her first single upon her return to Nigeria, 'Yaro'. After subsequently featuring on Mavin anthem, 'Dorrobucci', the Sierran Leonan/Nigerian further ingrained herself to music lovers. With a music power house like Mavin behind her and her velvet-voiced, exotic appeal, we've no doubt that 2015 will hold big things for her.
Linda Ejiofor: Since her appearance in 'The Meeting', Linda Ejiofor has been the poster child for Nollywood's latest 'IT' girl. The 'Tinsel' actress then began the year on a high note with the announcement that she would be the temporary replacement for Helen Paul on Africa Magic's Jara. Although she's yet to appear in any other major production since 'The Meeting', we believe the actress will dish us a few surprises this year.
Cynthia Morgan: Talented and versatile, Cynthia Morgan's performance at the 2014 Hip Hop World Awards was without a doubt one of the highlights of the night. In the last year, Cynthia who is signed to Jude Okoye's Northside Entertainment inc released a couple of interesting singles and videos. With her unique blend of reggae dancehall music and R&B, Cynthia has won quite a number of fans including soul singer, Asa who admitted to liking her music on 'The Midday show with Toolz'.
Yemi Alade: With the release of her 'King of Queens' album in October 2014, Yemi Alade dominated the last quarter of the year transitioning quickly from barely there to established act. With her catchy rhythm and incredible stage presence, Yemi has been able to capture audiences not only in Nigeria but also across Africa and we reckon that 2015 will see the 'Johny' singer nab a few awards and possibly endorsements.
Seyi Shay: 2014 was no doubt a great year for Seyi Shay as she not only penned a deal with telecommunications firm, Etisalat but also released a couple of widely successful singles. In 2015, we anticipate an even bigger year for the 'Murda' singer especially with the likely release of her debut album.
Weruche Opia: After a stellar outing in 'When Love Happens', the scion of veteran NTA broadcaster, Ruth Benemesia-Opia is poised to have an interesting year ahead, moreso with her AMVCA nomination which pits her against the veterans like Nse Ikpe-Etim, Rita Dominic and Joke Silva. We certainly look forward to seeing more of the light-skinned beaut in days ahead.
