As an academic, you do not only get the formal aspect of learning, what you study goes a long way into shaping who you are.

Human beings are born with some skills, sure, but most are the normal animalistic skills to help us find food, mate and protect ourselves. It is our awareness of who we are and our education in the course of our years that sets us apart from other animals. Education helps us understand what to do and why we do it. We can differentiate right from wrong and we can make choices, hopefully, good ones that will help us become useful to our society.

Below are five other importance of education.

1. Education instills self confidence

You feel more confident in yourself when you are knowledgeable. You will not be knowledgeable if you are uneducated. Education helps you learn more about yourself, your immediate society and the world at large. You need confidence and self-belief to be able to achieve anything in life. This can only be done if you are educated. Knowing how to read and understand language will make you more aware of the world. Being able to form useful opinions and contribution when others are speaking, because you are educated, well help you feel confident.

Being familiar with various project topics will make even a bigger contribution.

2. Helps you find your gift

We are all born with some talent, and you are unlikely to find this talent if you are not educated. How do you know what is within you if you have no idea that such things exist. For instance, you could have been instilled with the gift of writing, but if you have never been educated or gone to school, you will have no way to hone this skill, build on it, and be the best you can be.

3. Gives you a future

You go to school to get educated. You get educated to get employed. No one will employ an uneducated person. So, this proves that education is the first step towards building a life for yourself. It is the most important step when it comes to building a future.

4. Helps you become aware

Another importance of education is that it makes you aware. You know what is around you. You do not blindly follow other people's views because education has furnished you with the ability to make your own. You consider logic, culture and beliefs before choosing what way you think is right. Education clears darkness and leaves you with light and clarity.
