NSCDC Warns Students To Stay Away From Political Thuggery

Students of higher institutions in Ekiti state have been advised to resist inducements to become political weapons as election period approaches.

The Commandant, Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Shem Obafaiye, made the call during a visit to the management of the Ekiti State University (EKSU).

Calling on the support of the institution in crime prevention in the state, Mr. Shem noted that politicians might exploit the approaching elections to lure students into political thuggery and electoral violence.

Responding, EKSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina, assured of the university's support.

Prof. Aina also revealed that the institution are undergoing ethical and behavioural re-orientation.

Political thuggery and electoral violence have been a recurring decimal in Nigerian politics over the years.
