Police in Scotland have begun a search for two men who racially abused and attacked three male Nigerian students last month.

Reports say the two white men had followed the students along Cowane Street and Wallace Street shouting racial abuses at them in an attempt to lure them into a fight.

With the students refusing to start a fight, one of the men hurled a pint glass at them and then shoved one of the students, kicking him on the legs.

But for the intervention of a man who stopped his vehicle and got out to offer assistance, the attack might have escalated.

Police say the men went to another street and attacked two more students, including a 9-year-old female

Following the April 25 attacks, the police have asked members of the public to help identify the attackers.

Inspector Jim Young, of Forth Valley Police, said the men's behaviour is "very concerning", adding that the police is trying to identify them.

They were first noticed in Viewfield Street and they then entered Cowane Street where they have started their crime spree," he said.

"Due to one having a pint glass in his hand it is likely they have been in a local pub before this and we are currently checking licensed premises and CCTV to identify them.

Young asked the public to help identify the attackers, both described as white and 20-22 years old.

"Due to the time of night and city centre location someone will have seen them and know who they are.

"I am appealing for witnesses to come forward and help identify them."

gathered that two Zimbabwean males were racially abused the following night.
