Senator's comments show this polytechnic is not good for you

If the senator's comments are anything to go by, here are five reasons why this polytechnic is not good for admission seekers in Nigeria.

Suleiman, the lawmaker representing Fagge Federal Constituency, Kano as well as the Chair of the Committee on Tertiary Education, recently led an oversight visit to the Ekowe Polytechnic in Bayelsa state.

His reports about the polytechnic are so baffling that it is easy to conclude that this is not the type of Polytechnic anyone should attend.

It is quieter than a graveyard:

“When we got to the Polytechnic, a graveyard was busy compared to the place. The worry is that if the institution is existing, at least, there should be a presence of security personnel.

It is occupied by rats and lizard:

"There was absolutely nothing when we got there. Though, we saw a good edifice occupied by rats and lizards,”

Only 110 students are in this polytechnic:

''They claimed that the Polytechnic has about 110 students and over 1000 staff but there has been no document, report or nominal roll to prove that the so-called staffs were properly recruited by the Federal Government,”

Federal monthly allocations go down the drain:

''The Federal Government appropriated about N4 billion to the Polytechnic in the 2017 budget as well as a monthly allocation of N140 million for overhead yet there was nothing to show for it''.

There may be no budget for this school in 2018:

''Ekowe Polytechnic may not get appropriation in the 2018 budget because of the uncertainty surrounding its existence. Until we are sure of the true status of the institution, no money will be appropriated to it,”
