Yoruba students support 'pro-poor' Senator
The National Association of Yoruba Students has thrown its weight behind Senator Ahmad Lawan who is in the race for the Senate Presidency.
The students, members of the National Association of Yoruba Students, urged South-West senators-elect to vote Senator Lawan who they describe as “pro-poor."
In a statement signed weekend by its president, Victor Olusesuyi, the union noted that Lawan is an advocate of the pro-poor government and is thus suitable for the position.
The National Association of Yoruba Students comprises students’ unions and associations of all Yoruba speaking states in all high institutions in Nigeria.
Whoever becomes the next Senate President will be taking over from Senator David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark (GCON) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has held the position since June 6, 2007.
