Zamfara coordinator advises outgoing corps members on entrepreneurship
Malam Ballama Bello addressed outgoing corps members on the need to learn skills that'll empower them
The Zamfara NYSC Coordinator, Malam Ballama Bello, made the call while addressing the outgoing Batch B corps members during their passing out ceremony at NYSC Secretariat in Gusau on Thursday.
Ballama said the era of waiting for white collar job after graduating from school had passed.
Therefore, “we should think of how to learn various skills so that we can be gainfully employed”.
”We know the level of unemployment in this country; so the best way to overcome the challenges is to engage ourselves with skills we have learnt during the one year national service, ” he said.
Ballama said the Federal Government had, through the NYSC, introduced entrepreneurship and skills acquisition programme to train corps members in various skills for them to be self reliant.
”Therefore we must use this opportunity to practise what we have learned from the programme”, he added.
He also called on them to be honest, disciplined, dedicated where ever they found themselves.
According to him, out of 1,500 outgoing 2015 Batch B corps members, four have been offered employment by the state government.
He further explained that another 13 secured merit and commendation awards by the NYSC.
He commended the government for supporting the activities of NYSC in the state and the general public for the hospitality to corps members.
