The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the University of Ibadan (UI) Dr. Umar Musa Mustapha, gave the charge while speaking with The News following the appointment of Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka as the new Vice Chancellor for the institution.
Mustapha, a renowned scholar with five Masters and three PhD degrees in different fields, said Buhari's government must take education seriously.
"A well-educated and enlightened society is a successful society," Mustapha said.

"I will expect this administration to focus on rural education, education for women, education for the physically challenged, and education for the youths in the various levels."
The 54-year old scholar noted that the government is already taking the right steps with the school feeding program.
"I am quite excited to know that the government will be feeding the students in school.
"That is a good development. How it can be sustained is another issue entirely."

gathered that Professor Olayinka beat five other professors to become the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
He takes over from Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole on the 1st of December 2015.
