LAUTECH has the highest concentration of cybercriminals -DSS
The DSS Boss said that most of the cybercriminals in Nigeria are in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology
The Deputy-Director of the Department for State Security Service (DSS) Yekini Ishola made this known at a two-day seminar held at the Security Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
Yekini said internet fraud is more prevalent in the south-west, especially Lagos, Ogun and Oyo.
The DSS Boss while delivering his speech at the seminar reportedly said that most of the cybercriminals in Nigeria are in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho.
He added that cyber crimes were not committed by an individual, but a network of criminal activities perpetrated by syndicates who use identity theft, hacking, stocking, malicious software and other dubious means to gain access into people' information and account details.
He, however, charged Nigerians to collectively fight the cyber crimes in Nigeria because the country lacks hitech cybersecurity apparatus to fight the scourge.
"As a result of the dearth of hi-tech cybersecurity apparatus in the country, it could be rather difficult to fight cyber crimes to a standstill. Collective responsibility is therefore required to track cyber fraudsters and their cronies,"
LAUTECH Crisis
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has been rocked by crisis since 2016. The crisis propelled the university academic staff to embark on an industrial action that lasted for more than one academic calendar year.
