ASUU laments poor funding
LAUTECH lecturers have lamented the fact that the Oyo and Osun state government have refused to fund the institution.
The lecturers, who made this known in a statement, also alleged that the issue is killing the morale of LAUTECH workers.
The statement, which was signed by the ASUU Chairperson, Dr. Oladele Olaniran, and Secretary, Dr. P.T Abegunrin, tasked the Oyo and Osun state governments to wake up to their responsibilities and release the 21 months subvention being owed the institution.
“The achievements of the university in the past may not be unconnected with adequate funding, however the last time the institution enjoyed good funding was during the era of the duo of Chief Bisi Akande and Late Alhaji Lam Adesina as governors of Osun and Oyo states respectively,” he said.
The statement also explained that the institutions have had to pay salaries with internally generated revenue because the states refused to release the require funds.
“A university adjudged the in the country some time ago is now moving in the opposite direction of the glory,” the statement said.
Noting that the importance of education in development cannot be undermined without negative consequences, the teachers appealed to the two states to rise up to their financial responsibilities.
