There's a new "university of 1st choice" and it's not the school you think

Tip: It's not the University of Lagos, it's also not Obafemi Awolowo University, or Ibadan.

Many schools have at different times claimed to be the 1st choice for Nigerians students applying to these schools every year. From the University of Lagos to Obafemi Awolowo University, many schools have tried to own this bragging right.

Now, there's a way to settle this once and for all; Data.

According to Economic Confidential, the University sitting on the throne this year is the University of Ilorin.

A total of 103,238 applicants filled their JAMB forms this year hoping to gain admission into the 45-year-old University, with 51,082 being male, and 52,156 female.

At a very distant second is the University of Benin, with 81,363. 39,729 were male applicants and 41,571 were female.

In third, fourth, and fifth place are Ahmadu Bello University, University of Nigeria, Bayero University.
