JAMB Registrar says 1.1m candidates score above 100

Two days after explaining why some results were withdrawn from its website, the JAMB Registrar says over 1.1 million candidiates score above 100.

Oloyede disclosed this when members of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) led by its Chairman, Prof. Itse Sagay, visited the JAMB headquarters in Abuja.

The Registrar said out of 1,840,225 candidates who wrote the examination, only 800,000 had the five credits ordinary level (O’ level) minimum requirements.

“There are 767 tertiary higher institutions in Nigeria and about 560,168 candidates have been admitted. About 20 percent of the candidates are in SS2, they only took JAMB for trials.”

However, the exam body has explained the reason why some 2018 UTME results initially released on its website were withdrawn.

JAMB Spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin said the results might have been withheld.

Benjamin made this known on Monday, April 9, 2018, in an interview with newsmen in Abuja.

But according to him, the board may reschedule the examinations for some candidates whose cases are exceptional.
