Board urges students to take advantage of available federal scholarship schemes

There are foreign scholarships as well as other scholarship awards tenable in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The Executive Director of the board, Hajiya Jummai Dikko, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) in Kaduna.

According to Dikko, there are foreign scholarship and as well as other scholarship award tenable in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

She, however, said that only a few students in the state key into such opportunities, adding that a lot of people do not even know about the scholarship schemes.

“For example, the Federal Government is currently screening prospective students for the Bilateral Education Agreement Scholarship Award (BEA) across the country."

“But only a few applied from the northwest zone and Kaduna state in particular."

“This is one in a life time opportunity for our students,’’ Dikko said.

She also stated that the Federal Government would soon commence interview for scholarship award tenable in Nigerian institutions, scheduled from March 6 across the country.

The executive director said that the scholarship, which was open for all discipline, would cover institutional charges, fees and maintenance.

According to her, the criteria are Second Class Upper Division for full time students from any state or federal universities.

She noted that for an undergraduate, a candidate must be in his second year with a 4.0 Cumulative Great Point Average.

“The scholarship is also open for students from The Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education, but must also be in their second year," she said.

The executive director said that interested students could access the form at www.education.gov.ng, read the instructions and apply.
