Triceten Bickford allegedly attacked the 47-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter while they sat inside a cafe on Saturday night.

The student is facing multiple charges: One count of intimidation, one count of public intoxication, two counts of misdemeanour battery, one count of felony-level battery, one count minor consumption of alcohol and one count strangulation.

According to a UK Independent report, Bickford screamed “white power” and "kill them all” before slamming the woman's head into the table.

He also removed her headscarf and attempted to choke the woman who was screaming for help.

Her husband came to her aid alongside another man who apprehended Bickford and called the police.

After the teenager's arrest, he bit an officer in the leg.

Following the incident, a Muslim advocacy organization, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), called on officials to bring bias charges against the student.

CAIR's Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper said the case is not being given the due attention.

“We urge prosecutors to bring a ‘bias crime’ charge in this case as outlined under Indiana’s Criminal Code,” Hooper said.

“We are concerned that the low bail in this case is an indication that it is not being taken as seriously as it should given the allegations of violence and the alleged bias motive.”

Bickford has been granted bail at the sum of $2000 (N398500).
