President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians in the South-South of the country to disregard criticism by the Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that his government did nothing for the region.
My govt is fair, gave 'all Nigerian youth opportunity for University education' – Jonathan
Jonathan said one of the evidences of his government's transparency is seen in Education where he made sure that all states of the country had a Federal university to give Nigerian youths equal opportunity to university education.
Jonathan, who spoke at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Igwuruta-Ali, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, said Amaechi's comments only show his government as a fair one.
He said Amaechi, who spoke in his capacity as the Director-General of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Organization, was right, but failed to observe that the seeming neglect was done because 'every part of Nigeria must be carried along'.
“The DG (Amaechi) is telling Nigerians that I have not done this. That means that I am a transparent person.
I did not allocate positions to my people," Jonathan said.
"You will agree with me that when we looked at the university education, and we insisted that look, the Federal Government must make sure that all Nigerian youths must have opportunity for university education," he said.
“We did not divide North or South; we made sure that all the states that had no federal university got a federal university."
He promised the people that he would do "something" for them and urged them to vote him in again.
