Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has said his government will make legislation prescribing a jail term for any found involved in cultism.
Cultists will be arrested and jailed, Fayose tells students
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has said his government will make laws "which provides jail term for anybody involved in cultism is on the way."
Fayose gave the warning on Tuesday while speaking at at the Ekiti State Education Summit held at the Abiodun Adetiloye Hall of the state's Trade Fair Complex, Ado Ekiti.
“Cultism is now forbidden, if you have your child who is 18 years old, he has become accountable and he is liable for any offence committed," he warned.
“There will be legislation which provides jail term for anybody involved in cultism is on the way."
The governor noted that there will also be legislations against other crimes common among youth.
"Legislation is on the way against kidnapping and production and circulation of Indian hemp."
In a related development, stakeholders at the agreed to reintroduction of tuition fees at the state's public primary and secondary schools.
