Following a delay in the payment of October allowance, some Corps members received double and triple payments while some other did not get anything at all.

According to the Nation, some of the Corps members who passed out on Thursday, November 2, got as much as N164,000 instead of the usual N41,000, while others who are still serving received as much as N79,200, instead of 19,800.

One of the beneficiaries of the erroneous payment, Ayanda Olawale who is serving in Oyo State said he received double payment.

''Instead of N19,000 I got N41,000. I have not received any message from the bank to return the money but I wish to do so.'' He said.

Explaining the possible cause of the hitch, Ayanda said NYSC had a challenge that forced them to delay the October payment.

''I think NYSC had a little challenge and that is why they didn't pay the outgoing corps members before the wrapped up their program. It was after they had finished they now paid them''.

Ayanda said some of the corps members who got double payment are mostly those who received 'allawee' from Wema and Access Bank.

Meanwhile, a WhatsApp broadcast purportedly signed by Access Bank's Head of Disbursement has been making the rounds.

The message asked the beneficiaries of the erroneous payment to return the money to enable the Bank pay other corps members who have not received their October payment.

''As you may have noticed Due to a little hitch and technical error of our automated FTDS (fund transfer and dispensing system), some Corper were paid twice and others even up to x4 of usual 19800 monthly allowee. While others haven't received.

'Please Nysc is a scheme that test not just your academic qualification but also a test of your character, so we want to use this medium to appeal yo those that were paid allowee twice or thrice to please return the excess so we can pay those that didnt receive, pls let's be out brothers keepers.

''We at the bank we are still trying to collate the names of the corpers who were paid more than once so we can trace their files at the head office., and see their house address to retrieve the excess money back. Please be patient as we await approval from our GMD so we can kick-start the process.''
