President Goodluck Jonathan has said his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government has better plans for the youth than the All Progressives Congress (APC) which he says is desperate for power.
PDP has better plans for youths than Buhari's APC — GEJ
President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerian youths to shun the APC and re-elect his government which has better plans for them.
Speaking on Thursday as the party flagged off its campaign at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, Jonathan said the APC and its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, is only deceiving the people.
According to a Daily Independent, Jonathan referred to the Presidential Special Scholarship (PRESSID) as part of his effort towards arming the youth of today to restoring Nigeria’s glory after saying his "generation has failed."
“So I came up with a special scholarship that you must have made first class in your university. Then we take the first class of the first class and send them to the first 25 universities in the world.
"Can someone who has no plan do that?” he queried.
"I believe that young Nigerians are the future of this country."
“Most people in my age bracket are finished and gone. That is why I am passionate about those who are within the age of 18 and 23 who are voting for the first time. We believe that you people will take us to the moon.
Jonathan then challenged the APC to declare its plans for the youth.
“They (APC) should come and tell us the plans they have for the youths of Nigeria," he added.
He said Nigerians should be wary of the APC whom he accused of lying after Buhari reportedly said he would not post past leaders only to make a U-turn later.
“They said they will start fighting corruption after they cross the bridge. And only two days ago, somebody stood in Port Harcourt and said he is going to cast people into prison and throw them into Kirikiri.
"They want power by all means,” he stated.
Jonathan also presented flags to all PDP governorship candidates.
