“Our faith in the security organizations to protect Nigerians is fast waning" - CAN youth wing

The recent case of religious discrimination and killings in Zamfara state may have led to trust issues for the youth wing of the Christian association of Nigeria (CAN).

Daniel Kadzai, the Chairman of the CAN youth wing, says the incident could have been avoided if security operatives had responded on time, Premium Times reports.

Speaking at a discussion on Devolution of Power as a Tool for National Integration in Abuja, he advised the Federal Government to do something or face the consequences.

“We demand that no Nigerian should henceforth be persecuted, attacked or killed for blasphemy.

Government must be bold, otherwise, the widening divide or the religious lines may have dire consequences in the future.

Our faith in the security organizations to protect Nigerians is fast waning. It is obvious that the Federal Government or security operatives chose to look the other side when it comes to matters of religion", he added.

This is the not the first time this kind of claim has been made by CAN.

In July, 2016, the organization accused the president and his administration of being silent and indifferent to the killings of non-Muslims.

CAN called on the government "to take decisive action over these occurrences because it is their constitutional duty to do so."

A similar claim was made by  the CAN General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake, who said there could be a conspiracy to kill all non-Muslims in Nigeria.

"From the way I see things happening, there is a grand plan to wipe out Christians in this country but by the grace of God it will not come to pass", he said.
