Pastor Kumuyi made the call when paid a visit to Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, at Government House in Umuahia, saying he was impressed by the personal sacrifice the state governor had made in cutting down his salary and allowances by 50 per cent.

Kumuyi arrived the state for a five-day gospel crusade where he commended Ikpeazu for his sensitivity to the plight of the Abia workers who are owed salaries.

He therefore stated that there was compelling reason for other state governors, political office holders and even men of God to follow suit as a way of identifying with the suffering masses whom they serve.

The cleric said he had already received good testimonies that the state had started witnessing some changes under Ikpeazu, and urged him to sustain the tempo and fulfill the aspirations of the people who gave him the mandate.

The Deeper Life church founder assured him of his continued prayers for the state, adding that the state will witness showers of God's blessings during the gospel crusade.

In his remark, the state's Overseer of the church, Pastor Damian Umeh, commended  Ikpeazu for starting on a good note, citing the massive road rehabilitation going on in the commercial city of Aba.

While encouraging the state governor to continue moving in the right direction, he pleaded with him to donate land to the church for the establishment of a campus of the church university-the Anchor University in the state.

Ikpeazu, in his response, lauded Pastor Kumuyi for coming to the state for a gospel crusade, expressing faith that the visit would translate into exceeding divine blessings for residents.

Describing Kumuyi as “a role model and father of pentecostal movement in Nigeria, Ikpeazu urged the man of God "to keep showing the light."

The governor promised to accede to the request to provide land for the cleric to establish his university in the state, adding that he had indeed intended asking Deeper Life church to establish its university in the state only for the state overseer to ask for land for that purpose.

Aside from providing land for the university, the governor also promised to build a five-kilometer road leading to the site to create easy access to the campus.
