Archdiocese to pay 8 women $9 million over priest sexual abuse case
Following the series of allegations on the late priest, Micheal Cody, Settle Archdiocese has agreed to pay $9 million to eight women who were allegedly abused as children by the priest.
According to reports, Cody who died in 2015 abused women between 1968 and 1974 while serving as a priest in Whatcom and Skagit counties.
Peter Sartain, the current Archbishop stated that he deeply apologise for Cody’s actions.
"Our first priority is the protection of children and healing for past victims," he said.
"It is my firm commitment to build on the good efforts of the past and continue to take steps that will truly help victims of clergy sexual abuse to heal."
