A human activist has urged the Nigerian Federal Government to implement a law banning the use of Islamic veils in the country.
Activist urge FG to ban use of Islamic veils in the country
He believes that the terrorist hide behind the veils to disguise who they are and what their mission is.
Mr James Idoghor, an activist in Delta state has maintained that hoodlums make use of these veils to perpetrate crimes in the country. He also added that these terrorists and miscreants make use of these veils to hide their gender and their mission.
According to Vanguard, Idoghor made this opinion known while expressing his concern over the inability of the Federal Government to find the over 200 missing Chibok girls, and the continuous killings and unleashing of mayhem on innocent citizens, particularly in northern parts of the country,
He said, “Most of the perpetrators of the heinous crimes usually wear veils to disguise their gender and motives.”
He also added that a Government which cares about the people will make these any changes it believes to be in its people's interest, regardless of if it has religious significance.
“No democratic country will tolerate any religious norm that has turned dangerous to the precious lives of her citizenry. This government should not pay deaf ears to the cries of her citizens. People are dying in their dozens by the day. The wearing of veils must be stopped,” he said.
