The Voice Nigeria Season 2: Organizers should fire all judges now

At that point, I was compelld to ask myself if the judges knew anything about music at all, and wondered how long it'd take before the organisers have them fired!

Counting down to Africa Magic’s The Voice Nigeria! Naija are you ready?!

Just when I thought I was in for some entertainment on the Season 2 of The Voice Nigeria which started yesterday, an incident towards the end of Sunday's episode left me totally disappointed and frustrated, causing me to fault the judgment of all four judges.

What I find difficult to fathom is how Uche Michael's performance of Justin Timberlake's "Mirror" couldn't get him through the blind auditions but Adeleke's rather sleazy rendition of the Boyz II Men song did. And to think Yemi Alade who rolled her eyes in frustration to Michael' performance had earlier turned for Jahnomso - Jahtel's brother - who is no match on any scale to the former. I'm sure Ik Osakioduwa would agree with me, because all through Michael's performance, he had his neck stretched out and jaws dropped, hoping the judges would turn. Sadly, the #BringHimDown crew - Judges - were at their best last night to eliminate "The Voice".

Also, could it possibly be that the judges, Timi Dakolo, Patoranking, Waje and Yemi Alade were intimidated by Michael's overwhelming musical abilities that they had to shoot him down and kill his talent by ensuring he doesn't make it through the blind auditions? In #Naija, anything is possible, especially with #Badbelle. Perhaps, the judges should do a rejoinder explaining why Michael was rejected, because the reasons given for his rejection on the show smacked of bias.

Strangely, before the show started, I figured I needed to have yesterday's Episode recorded on my PVR to determine the sense of judgment of the judges, but it turns out they started this season by endorsing mediocrity over merit. It just says a lot about what we should expect before this season runs out.

With all certainty, I dare say had the contestant made it through the blind auditions and stayed longer on the show, I'm double sure he would no doubt have stunned viewers with his energy and pitches.

Here's a word to the organisers: The show has got an audience to keep, and very smart and knowledgeable ones at that, so you've a duty to ensure credibility at all times. Unfortunately, that cannot be sustained by engaging sentiments or accommodating favoritism.

If it turns out your judges are stalling by dismissing raw talents on the show without credible justification, have such persons go through your auditions or better still, have them fired instantly! This season shouldn't be turned into #BadBelleCentral, else the show would soon earn a reputation for being a breeding ground for mediocre performers. I hope this sinks in!
