Managing your stage effectively as a leader

Even if that means being a leader of your own life and giving it a direction with balanced choices.'

In everything you do, always take time to accomplish whatever you want to or you are asked to accomplish, or the goals you’ve set your mind to accomplish. That's the first sign of a leader. Everything you have to do daily, set a target to meeting them even if not all, at least 70percent and above.

There are some things you just should not take lightly. Maintain life balance, stay focused on the task at hand, and maintain a long-term vision. All of these things together will ensure that you are a leader in everything you do. Never be too busy for to-do list.

If you want to be an Effective Leader, then you need to know how to manage your stage. How then do you manage your stage, it's simply by doing ALL you have to do within the stipulated time given to you.

There is one thing we need to know, that when we are given a stipulated time to take a class, make good use of that time. Don't go with that saying where you are being called to stage and they say: 'Take the stage, it's yours and you can do whatever you want with it.' True, the stage is yours, mind you, it's only yours for the duration of time allotted to you, not outside that time. And yes, you can do whatever you want within that time but don't do irrelevant things with that time.

There are times when we are given a range of time to take class but truly the time doesn't seem enough sometimes, we can take a little time more if it's a gathering or situation where we can but let's be mindful of how much extra time we take, 10 or 15 minutes more is enough, but never you take that extra time without telling the audience about how sorry you are to take extra time.

Something like this enough: 'I really wish I can finish this within the stipulated time, I have more in my note but I'll try and shuffle them and be through in the next 10minutes, I'm sorry I have to take an extra time.'

You have to understand that if you are to use 1hour for a class and you take 30minutes extra, once it's 1hour exactly, some starts getting bored, do you know why? It's because they've zeroed their mind to that 1hour and some has even decided to do something else after that time, so they start getting uneasy, even when you are saying something so good, some will listen, yes, but not all. So try and put others into consideration.

Do you know why some people listen to Preacher till the end even when he seems to be taking more than enough time? It's simply because they didn't know the time range given to the preacher. Let them know and you see two, three people talking behind 'But his time has elapsed na, why is he taking extra time, can't he just round off?'

It's amazing that one is given 30minutes to take a class and the first 10 minutes, he wasted it on an introduction that doesn't have to do with the topic he/she is to talk on. The he/she will use the next 5 minutes to bring the audience back to what he was to say. Remember that time is moving fast whereas the note he prepared is for exactly 30minutes.

Then within the next 15minutes, he'll try to fit in everything he has prepared which won't work. Thereby, not finishing what he/she has prepared, then everyone will be left hanging, they wouldn't get the rest of the information and thereby will hardly understand the end of the class. The next time he/she will be called to speak to that same audience, they wouldn't even bother to pay attention because of the last incidence.

Even Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 vs 1 - 8 recorded it that everything has it's time. Don't leave what should be done today till tomorrow. Arrange all things accordingly. You are asked to speak at a function and you started with what's last on the list, it's like starting with benediction in a Church Service.

I end with this: if you are someone who has the ability to help others manage their time, don't hesitate to do so. Some are gifted with the remembrance, help a friend in remembering what they have to do, even if it was just mentioned to your hearing and you know you can help out.

Moreso, if you don't have that remembrance gift, develop it, don't always depend on another fellow to help you in remembering, know that time waits for no man. You only have 24hours in a day, if you can't manage it well and the day is stretched to 48hours per day, it'll still be hard for you to manage it well. We all are guilty of this charge, but we can get better. The limit to what you can do starts and end with your mind. Don't stop growing.
