This is an exclusive blog post by writer and book reviewer, Tolu Arogundade...Instinct is about discovering what you are called to do.
I was reading the first chapter in the book ‘Instinct’ by T.D.Jakes, at the tail end of that chapter the author said “I am not writing a book to show you how to get rich, because I know that may rich people have not identified their purpose” this statement made me realize the big gap between being wealthy and having fulfillment.
I have never seen ‘Instinct’ as a major perquisite that we all need to enjoy divine direction from God. While reading the book, I see Instinct as a free gift that God has given everyone of us to guide us in our day to day activities. Jakes pointed out that “Our instants are the treasure map for our soul’s satisfaction.”
He also pointed out that following our instincts can make the crucial distinction between what we are good at our vocation or skill set and what we are good for- the fulfillment of our purposeful potential. So many of us have not been able to draw a clear line from the two, we mix our interest up with our calling.
I don’t want you to get it twisted here so get this right; your instinct can’t lord over you, you have to develop a relationship with the person of your soul. I personally call it the Holy Spirit; your human soul can’t lead you better than what you feed it. That was why I said you need a good relationship with your instinct.
I so much love it when the author said “When both your intellect and your instincts are aligned, then producing the fruits of your labors brings satisfaction beyond measure.” I see it as yielding to the leading of the Spirit. When you know the personality (Holy Spirit) beyond your instinct, it will be difficult for you to think he will lead you to do something wrong.
Instinct is about discovering what you are called to do; it explains how you can get to your sweet spot, the book show you who you are and what set you apart from others. The author define it as the product of what you have and what you want to have, it’s the light that gives you peace when you are doing what you are made for.
“Trailblazing people move by instinct, because there is nothing outward that suggests that what they see inwardly is possible.” Your instinct encourages and motivates you to take that your first step toward your multibillion dollar business ideas, it speak to you about that young guy you are thinking of starting a relationship with, it’s part of your everyday life.
Personally, I will like you to get a copy of this master piece map that has been drafted out well to direct you to where your best and your greatest self lays. The book has 21 insightful chapters that also show how the author’s instinct has guided him to greatness within life challenges and disappointment that confronted his ministry and family.
