His wife, his everything

To be a wife in this part of the world it’s not easy. Our mothers and grandmothers did it and had peaceful homes.

His wife, his everything.

I’m an igbo girl full blooded igbo, where I come from women cook and take care of their husbands. Our mothers cooked for their husbands and I’m not deviating from that standard. As a matter of fact our men start adding weight once they get married, that’s the effect of their wives delicacies.

When I got married my father told me “adam, ana esinata nwoke na uno”, meaning your cooking will bring back your husband if he still has his legs outside after marriage.

As a wife, I am called to be my husband’s cook, mother, nurse, prayer partner and warrior, sex partner, playmate, friend, homekeeper, laundryman, baby etc. Anyone telling me otherwise is talking rubbish, feminism, not belonging to the kitchen and all that talk no concern me.

I enjoy my job description as a wife, anytime I step out of my home in the name of travel; my husband misses me like hell because I gave him something to miss about me.

  • His cook; why can’t I cook for my husband when he makes sure theres something to cook. Is he supposed to provide the food and still do the cooking? Or one girl in the name of househelp feeds him for him? Na lie. I give him food the way he likes it and when he likes it.  My husband does not leave the house without eating even if he’s going for a party.  In fact, I get what I want from him when he is eating not in the bedroom. Maybe I don’t have an issue with being his cook because I love cooking. I AM HIS COOK PERIOD.
  • HIS MOTHER AND NURSE; men that don’t know how to manage sickness, ordinary malaria they will be doing like they wan die. In that kind of situation who do I leave him for, househlep, his mother, sister or daughter? Nope, I will take care of him like my baby (he is my first baby though). If he is strong and healthy does he service them or me?

I will drive him to the hospital and make sure he takes his drugs.

  • His laundryman; it is often said that the mad man knows no shame; it’s his relations that will be ashamed. In like manner, when your husband comes out looking dirty and tattered and unkempt, they will just refer to him as your husband. I wash my husband’s cloths, starch the ones that needs starching, hey but I don’t like ironing, that one is his business. He doesn’t forget to say thank you baby anytime I do his laundry.
  • Prayer partner and warrior; before he got married his mother always prayed for him, now he is married it’s my job to pray for him and with him. His blessings are also mine.
  •  Sex partner; me I belong to the other roomoooo, in fact I love the other room. Body no be firewood, no be only him dey enjoy am.
  • His beautician, stylist and spa; his bumps, pimples, pedicure and manicure are all taken care of by me, at least we chat and laugh while doing them and it allows us bond. Massaging him is what I do with all pleasure and you know what follows after a good massage.
  • Househeeper; this job description is all encompassing. Even the bible said in proverbs 14; 1, a wise woman builds her home but a foolish woman puts it down. Titus 2; 4-5, that they may teach their young women to love their husbands, love their children, to be discrete, chaste, keepers at home, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.                                                                     So who did the bible call the housekeeper? The housegirl or your husband’s relation you brought from the village?  HIS WIFE IS THE HOUSEKEEPER.

It is my responsibility to cook for my husband, wash his cloths, raise his kids (my kids), nurse him, advise him, make him feel good in the bedroom, that’s my job description.

I am a woman, I love being a woman but I’m not letting feminism preaching destroy my home, my mother did it and I will do it and teach m daughter to do it.
