President Muhammadu Buhari can succeed if only he understands that you can have the brightest of ideas as a Nigerian leader but failure to have the strength and courage to see those ideas manifest into reality makes it only remain one of the many ideas of the past that never came to fruition.

The first rush of a leader in attempting to sanitize the system might appear as though the leader is set to take off and fly but at the end of the day in the Nigerian context, the start off does not necessarily guarantee success or even that the pace will be increased over time nor even maintained. One thing President Buhari may need to do to succeed, is to first ensure that he is not carried away by Politics particularly that of his own party and face squarely the business of governance and sanitization of the system. If he decides to indulge in Politicking this early, that may be the beginning of his administration’s failure.

Going by precedents, past administrations that started off well began to fail when they lost focus and prioritized Politics as opposed to good governance and putting the people first. President Buhari should look at his victory at the Polls as a call from God to sanitize and save Nigeria from the brink of total collapse, but if he goes and begin playing Politics, he will surely lose concentration. Right now, what the President needs to do the most is to focus on governance and leave party Politics for those who busy themselves with it and have made a career out of it and are known for that. Definitely by the time he is through sanitizing the system, they would all fall in line but if he permits them to drag him into the ring of playing Politics he'll be so busy throwing punches and the serious business of governance will be left unattended to.

So the way forward is that Mr President should critically appraise and reposition himself squarely resolving to focus on sanitizing Nigeria if that is the only thing he would have achieved by 2019. But if he wants be everywhere and nowhere by dipping his hands in all sorts of endeavors he may just end up being President Jack of all trade and master of none thereby arriving at no particular destination after having being all over.

The reasons why Nigerians voted President Muhammadu Buhari was mainly because they believed that for once we have a candidate that is "blameless" and "disciplined" and will fight corruption with all he's got. If he fails Nigerians in this regard, then it will be a big shame. Mr President should focus his attention on what every Nigerian that gave him their mandate believes that he can achieve and not let the country down.

God bless Nigeria.
