A month later while strutting around town as the new poster boy of Nigerian pop music, Davido was embroiled in his first controversy.
In February 2012 Davido would make the headlines for the wrong reasons for the first time in his minty fresh career. For most stars it would take a year before they get entangled in some sort of mess up but not Davido.

Davido who still has arguably the fastest rise in the music scene that we have ever seen was also quick in getting into the scandal side of things.
On February 25, 2012 pictures of Davido with a young woman surfaced on the popping social media app at that time Twitter. In the photos Davido was fast asleep as his lady companion took pictures of them lying in bed. There is also a photo of the babe whose Twitter handle can be shortened as Sonia La Bomb licking Davido's tattoo.
Boom! Twitter went nuts. The last time a social media scandal of this sexual nature happened was in 2010 when photos of Wande Coal comprised on his bed went viral. For the Nigerians on Twitter it was a shock to see the teenage pop star in comprising photos with a chick that looked seriously questionable.
After a little bit of investigation it was discovered that Sonia Jumbo was the person behind the leak. Sonia who was 18 years old at the time was an undergraduate of a university in Ghana. She reportedly hooked up with Davido when he came to perform at a show in Accra, Ghana. The event was the Miss ISA 2012 beauty pageant, organized by the International Students Association of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

24 hours after their tryst, pictures of Sonia and Davido were seen all over the Internet. The pop star got a lot of bad press both on social media and in the papers. A lot of people felt that Davido's career was already doomed.
Calls were made to Davido and his manager then Asa Asika but they were not returned. Till today Davido has never spoken about his first scandal.
A few people believe that the scandal was a carefully orchestrated stunt by Davido and his team to boost his popularity. No evidence till date proves that theory right.
Davido's scandal with Sonia Jumbo who disappeared from Twitter shortly after was the first in a long list of scandals that has littered the singer's brilliant career.
