A lesson for 2face Idibia's wife and women married to celebrities

When it comes to marrying male celebrities, monogamy is just a word.

Annie Idibia quickly deleted the post but in this era of social media posts and snapshots, nothing ever gets deleted. In the caption of the photo Annie Idibia wrote "'Pls tag her family members to put this woman in oder....she needs to stop bugging my family....Am a peaceful person...won't embarrass you by munching all your messages here... stay away rich kid."

Indeed the woman in question is a rich kid. The alleged home wrecker whose photo is probably trending on Instagram right now as we speak is none other than Ayabime Okpo, the niece of Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

The gist from the grapevine is that 2face was actually seeing Ayabime during her days as an undergraduate at the University of Lagos way before he and Annie made things official.

Unconfirmed reports have it that she was also pregnant for 2Baba but decided not to keep the child. The romance between the two continued when she went for her Masters Degree at Swansea University after studying Law in the University of Lagos.

No one knows when the love affair between 2face and Ayabime went south, but it certainly seems she is back in the picture and Annie Idibia is very uncomfortable about her re-emergence. You know what they say about old relationships burning brighter. It was maybe a moment of desperation from Annie Idibia who has known 2face since she was a teenager.

Annie's hastily deleted Instagram post reveals what it is like to be in a relationship or marry an actor, singer, entertainer or a man who is famous. It's a constant job of trying to chase the women 'after your husband'.  A male celebrity will always have women around him, it's a fact of life, it's a given. Marrying a male celebrity will not change that. Rather I think it will even attract women more. A male celebrity is fair game to many desperate women out there, ring or no ring.

When a woman decides to settle down with a male celebrity she should have it at the back of her mind that other women will exist. I am not necessarily saying that the man will cheat but in the best case scenario many women will flock around him for attention and sex. I believe Annie Idibia knew this when she said her vows.

As beautiful it sounds to women to be in love with a male celebrity, it’s a life filled with more downs and ups. There will be women vying for your position. There will be late nights. There will be lonely nights. This is just the best case scenario for a male celebrity who isn’t a man whore.

On February 5, 2016 pop star Peter Okoye was accused of sleeping with an Instagram model by the name of Aimee. Throughout the allegations Peter Okoye's wife Lola Omotayo did not say a word about it on social media. She was quiet. This is a woman who must have seen her fair share of women trying to claim her man, but I bet she knows coming out on social media isn't the answer.

On Saturday, March 23, 2013, 2face and Annie Idibia got married in Dubai. It was a big wedding. Finally the two lovers had battled all odds, and are now going to be together forever. Nigerian celebrities turned up for the wedding of the year. Politicians showered the new couple with gifts. The wedding looked like the perfect ending in a Walt Disney fairytale.

The problem is the world is not a fairy tale and human beings are not fantasies. You can marry your prince charming but riding into the sunset and living happily forever is for kids. You know what reality is? Reality is that there barely exists a monogamous married male. You can argue about this but really that’s reality. Heck how many monogamous average men do you know?

To the women who marry bad ass celebs they will deal with baby mama dramas, concubines and paternity scandals in their marriage.

For the likes of Annie Idibia and other women married to celebrities they can’t complain about what they are going through. 9 out 10 times the best thing about celebrity marriages is the expensive wedding. After that, it’s not a bed of roses.

How many women will Annie Idibia chase or shame on social media? The funny thing is that women chasing her husband will always happen. A year ago, Annie and 2face responded to allegations that the music star had fathered a child outside wedlock.

A few days after 2face was caught kissing his baby mama in a club in Lagos. According to several reports Annie Idibia went berserk when she found out.

For women married to celebrities as long as your man respects you and treats you and the kids alright then it’s all good. But if you are looking for monogamy, or a fairy tale it is time to wake up and smell the coffee.
