The relationship between Wizkid and Davido has reached a new peak.

The most interesting part of this Wizkid vs Davido beef is the levels people go to show support for their choice.

No matter how unbiased some people appear, deep in their hearts, they still possess a preferred candidate in the battle for supremacy on the African continent. It is fairly normal. Humans have freewill, which includes the ability to make choices based on personal preference.

“Joey, I’m never listening to Wizkid again.” My younger sister told me over the weekend as I bumped and displayed my flawed and highly inappropriate dancing skills over the newly released ‘African Bad Gyal’. I didn’t care. I love the music created by Wizkid and Davido. Why would I want to shoot down the quality of my playlist because these two brats decided to fight each other.

If they like, let them catch each other on the streets and throw punches. It’s their problem. My main concern is that they keep making music that would make happiness ‘Fall’ on me, and give me ‘Sweet love’. Let them fight.

But for my younger sister, she didn’t have that objectivity. She had made a choice, and she was bent on influencing people.

I see the same attitude on social media. People are emotionally connected to one star, over the other. They probably love the elegance and skill of Wizkid. Or they are instantly sucked into the vibe and exuberance that is Davido’s signature demeanor. The affiliation creates a strong sense of duty, which would make people gravitate and pledge allegiance.

By clashing, Wizkid and Davido have on some level split their fan base. People are uncoupling their support for both stars, and taking sides. But it doesn’t have to be so.

Come closer, let me let you in on some secret I have discovered during this beef: You can ignore both Wizkid and Davido’s bad behaviour, and simply enjoy their music without taking part in their beef? What if I tell you that you shouldn’t allow the ill-advised and petulant behaviour of two young and wealthy pop stars dictate how you consume your music?

Try it, you will see that you won’t die. Instead, you will experience a greater sense of enjoyment, knowing that you have the ability to listen to Wizkid and Davido and still log on to Twitter to voice your opinion.

Beef should never be the reason why you choose to support a pop star. They don’t really care about you. They are blinded by their egos and petty pride. But you, you have their music, you have their vocals. All you need to do is plug your headphones in, and press play.

Let beefing stars beef. Focus on the value they bring to your life with their music. You won’t die if you don’t choose between Wizkid and Davido.
