It's been engaging, fascinating and full of surprises and controversies, speaking of awards in 2016 - The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) 2016, MTV Europe Music Awards , All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) and the Headies 2016.

Osagie Alonge and Ayomide Tayo discuss the issues surrounding each award.

Starting with the MTV Europe Awards, where Wizkid was mistakenly awarded Best African Act, when Alikiba was the intended winner, he says credit has to be given to the organisers for owning up to their error.

"MTV is just being professional enough to come out own their mistake and give the right person the award it doesn't get better than that," Osagie explains.

On AFRIMA, the controversy was on those who really deserve the award not getting it, which affects the credibility of the show.

Osagie was of the opinion that maybe they need to re-strategize the concept of the awards.

"You can never ever judge the true value of one's creativity and that's you always have an estimation of the best have Awards can always give you estimation but is not the true test."
