Yero stated this on Thursday, April 30, 2015 ahead of the Workers’ Day celebration on Friday, May 1.
“Salaries were always paid as at when due just as allowances were paid and we also settled pension and gratuity arrears that accumulated since 2006, amounting to over N17 billion,” the governor said in a statement released by his media aide, Ahmed Maiyaki.
The governor also praised workers in the state in commemoration of the day.
“I salute the courage and patriotic commitments of majority of our workers towards moving Kaduna State forward. This was evident by the level of support we received during this period that we have been in office,” the statement read.
Yero is expected to vacate office on May 29, 2015, following his defeat by Governor-elect, Nasiru El-Rufai in the April 11 elections.
