President appoints new DG (budget), SA on planning

The president reportedly discharged the recent DG (budget) because of the several errors detected in the 2016 budget submitted to the National Assembly and also some other unmentioned irregularities in his administration.

Following the discharge from service of Yahaya Gusau, the current Director General (Budget) President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Tijani Abdullahi as the new DG (Budget office) and Ben Akabueze as the special adviser on planning to the Minister of Budget and National Planning.

Abdullahi is said to be a banker with several years of experience in managing the public finance and a fellow at the of Nigeria.

While Akabueze is the immediate past Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Lagos State and has also worked worked in senior management positions in Citi Bank, Fidelity Bank, United Bank for Africa, NAL Merchant Bank, Sterling Bank and BIA Consulting Limited, among others.

Gasau, who was preceded by Bright Okogu was appointed to office in August 18, 2015.
