Historically, Lagos Island (Isale Eko) was home to the Brazilian Quarter of Lagos where the majority of the slave trade returnees from Brazil settled. As a matter of fact, many families lived on Broad Street in the Marina. These days, most Nigerian banks' head offices are located on Lagos Island

Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way is one of the busiest routes in Ikeja, Lagos State. It was named after Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony a popular Nigerian business Man. The route interchanges the Ikorodu road that passes through Maryland and stretches to 5 kilometres.
