It is no longer news that Wizkid is on the leap to the international stage. His deal with RCA Records/Sony Music International is beginning to bear fruits, with the increased commercial success of his latest songs and his set of successful collaborations with artistes like Drake, Justine Skye etc.

Wizkid appears to be leading the road, and a lot of other African music stars are set to follow. The charge to take African sound to the world has been receiving a lot of support, espcecially in the African community, where it seems to be the common purpose. A lot of other African artistes and music lovers are showing support for the movement, hoping to sweep the wave across world space.

For Wizkid to reach the highest grounds of global music, he would need to make some strategic moves and among them is effective collaboration with other international acts. This is a sure and safe way to penetrate into the global market. I decided to come up with a list of 5 international collaborations that could help Wizkid reach his goal of taking African music across the world.

Here is the list:

1. Wizkid & Future: My instincts tell me that collaboration between the two would be lit. Believe me, the trap sound of Future and Wizkid's modified Afro-pop sound could be ingredients to a wonderful musical sound that is yet to be tried. I know this because I have tried it in my head and it was massive. Recall that in 2012, Wizkid made a cover version of Future's Turn On The Lights and it was amazing. I imagine both of them on a track and I see glory.

2. Wizkid & Nikki: All the big baka and yantch that Wizkid keeps singing about would be served to him, if he can pull this collaboration. This should be enough motivation for Wizkid to be at his best, and you'd expect Nikki to shine alongside the starboy.

More than that, he can be sure of appealing to a wide section of ladies who idolise Nikki and guys who would rather be on the song instead of Weezy. His newest signature line, 'Sing for me girl' would blend in well with Nikki's bitchy lyrics. Wizkid/Nikki collaboration is not only going to be a song full of vibe, it is sure going to do numbers.

3. Wizkid & Rihanna: It has been rumoured that somewhere in the lockers of one of the international music companies, a recorded collaboration between the two is saved. Can you imagine? A Wizkid & Rihanna collaboration locked away somewhere in this world and we don’t get to hear it!Interestingly, in 2016, Rihanna said Wizkid is her type of man. The relationship between the two music stars could inspire the recording of a wonderful song. You can guess that the theme of song would be either about love or lust. Whichever one they settle for, it is sure to be a massive hit, in Africa, in the Caribbean, in Europe and across other parts of the world. Perhaps soon enough, the world would get to hear the Ojuelegba bred boy collaborating with the girl from far away Barbados, and their synergized magic would manifest.

4. Wizkid & The Weekend: Some people still argue about who the real StarBoy is. In my opinion, they are both starboys. If you doubt me, ask Selena Gomez & Justine Skye.If eventually it happens, the collaboration between the two would not be a contest of who shines brighter. It would be more of, two stars coming together to light up the world. I believe the duo have the latent capacity to make timeless music.

5. Wizkid & DJ Khaled: Yes Wizkid & DJ KHALED. I want to see Wizkid on one of the many all-star tracks that have become DJKhaled's brand of music. A track such as that would give room for Wizkid work with a number of international stars and thus, help him grow his network in the new terrain of global music. It would be interesting to see him collaborate with two, three or more international acts on one song and you know, Wizkid has what it takes to shine like the night sky.

The road to dominating world music for Wizkid, is being paved by RCA/Sony Music International. It would be interesting to see him reach the heights of dominating world music and fulfilling to see him grab the biggest awards. This task is going to be a lot demanding but no one should doubt Wizkid's push. His musical ability is undoubted, he appears to have a good team and providence seems to favour him, so he's gonna be alright.Written by Ibironke Oluwatobi
