Nigeria’s Super Eagles drop six places to 44th position in new FIFA ranking

The team moved one point up in Africa ranking while its global ranking cannot be explained.

According to the new FIFA ranking released on Thursday, September 14, 2017, the three times African champion dropped to 44th position after pulling 696 points for the month. This is -2.79% less of the point gained in August.

On the continent, Egypt maintained its first ranking of first in Africa. The Pharaohs were followed by Tunisia, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second, third and fourth positions respectively.

Meanwhile, the German team regained its first spot from the Brazilian team in the latest ranking. The Nationalelf were surpassed in the race for the summit position in August 2017.

On the aggregate, the African teams ranked ahead of Nigeria pulled more outside match points than the country. Thus, explaining the reason for its current ranking despite winning impressive matches against the Cameroonian team.

The next World Ranking will be published in October 16.
