Saka wins Maiden NPFL VAT Wonder Goal Awards

51.5% of the NFPL's fans voted for Saka’s goal against 37.9% for Ugochukwu and 25.6% for Abdulwaheed.

According to the results of the poll conducted on Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL)’s Twitter handle and official website, the Rivers United midfielder, Ayo Saka has been awarded NPFL-VAT Wonder Goal award for Matchday 20.

The Rivers United’s Midfielder was chosen ahead of Enyimba’s Ugochukwu Leonard and Gombe United’s Afolabi Abdulwaheed.

Saka, who recently joined Rivers United from Sunshine Stars, scored the goal against Nassarawa United in the 39th minute of the match.

51.5% of the NPFL's fans voted for Saka’s goal against 37.9% for Ugochukwu and 25.6% for Abdulwaheed.

The player is excepted to receive a prize of N150,000, out of which he is to donate 50% to any community in River state, where the club resides.

It would be recalled that the League Management Company (LMC) recently signed a partnership deal with Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).

It is this deal that resuscitated the Wonder Goal after it was suspended by the LMC.
